Getting started

What does Still do?

Still helps you choose one intention, give it a block of time, and protect that decision from the apps, categories, or websites you tend to open automatically.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Still’s V1 focus flow does not require an account.

Which session lengths are available?

Still uses four production durations: 25, 45, 60, and 90 minutes.

App blocking

Why does Still ask for Screen Time access?

Still uses Apple’s Screen Time controls so it can restrict the distractions you choose during a protected focus session. You can still use Still without granting this access.

What does “Timer only” mean?

Your focus session is active, but Still is not currently applying app blocking. This can happen if Screen Time permission is unavailable or you have not selected any distractions.

What does “Protection active” mean?

Still has successfully established the protection required for the current session. The app should never show this state merely because permission exists or because a selection was saved.

How do I change the apps I want to block?

Open Still while you are not in an active focus session, then use Edit distracting apps from setup or Settings. Still uses Apple’s system picker for these choices.

I denied Screen Time permission. Can I still use Still?

Yes. Timer-only focus remains available. If you later want app blocking, review the Screen Time access shown in Still’s Settings and follow the recovery guidance there.

During a focus session

What happens when I open a selected distraction?

When protection is active, iOS shows Still’s system shield. It reminds you of the intention you chose and gives you Return to focus as the available shield action.

What does “Return to focus” do?

It closes the shielded app. Your focus session continues, protection stays active, and the timer keeps its original end time.

What if I really need to use a blocked app?

Open Still and end the active focus session. Still does not provide a temporary “allow once” bypass.

Can I end a session early?

Yes. You can always end the focus session. Still then cleans up its own protection and moves to the reflection screen.

Lock Screen and Live Activities

Why is my intention visible on the Lock Screen?

If Show intention on Lock Screen is enabled, Still may show the current intention in its Live Activity. Turn that setting off to use the generic label Focus instead.

Will Still stop working if Live Activities are disabled?

No. Live Activities are a presentation feature. Focus and app protection, when configured, do not depend on a Live Activity being available.

Sessions and history

What happens after a session ends?

Still asks one question: Did you finish what you intended? You can answer Yes, Not yet, or Skip.

What is saved in History?

Finalized sessions can appear in local History with the intention, date/time, planned duration, and neutral outcome. Still does not turn this into a score, streak, or productivity dashboard.

I force-quit Still during a session. What should happen?

If you reopen before the session ends, Still should restore the same session using its original start and end times. If the session has already expired, Still should recover into completion instead of restarting the timer.

Troubleshooting

Still says app blocking could not be enabled.

Still could not enable app blocking for that session. Review Screen Time permission and your distraction selection, then try again. Still will not label the session as protected unless blocking was actually enabled.

A blocked app is still available.

Check whether the active session says Protection active or Timer only. If it says Timer only, Still is not applying app blocking for that session. If it says Protection active but the selected distraction is not actually restricted, that is a product issue that should be reported.

An app still looks blocked after the session ended.

Still is designed to clear its own restrictions when a session ends. If a selected app remains blocked after a completed session, reopen Still so it can reconcile stale state. This should be treated as a bug rather than normal behavior.
